PRESS RELEASES: We can provide actual 35mm strips of
film from a Disney animated feature classic. These strips of film enclosed with
a press release have been proven to be attention-getters among the many press
releases the media receive. The strips are pre-cut to the width of your printed
press releases. They show how the animation progresses frame by frame and is a
good context for the animation exhibition.
WINE AND CHEESE RECEPTION: If you wish to have a
pre-opening reception or vernissage for your members, biggest donors, government
officials etc., we can provide filmstrips similar to those mentioned above for
the invitations. We can have a staff doing demonstrations at the reception, show
sample films on a large screen, and have all other exhibition elements
activated.
DEMONSTRATIONS: Professional and aspiring
animation artists will demonstrate to your visitors various animation steps
they have seen in the exhibitions. They will talk with the visitors, answer
questions etc.
SCREENINGS: In addition to monitors through the
exhibits continuously playing short cartoons on video, an area can be set aside
for more formal screenings. A screening timetable will let visitors know when
films are playing and in which language. Most of the time animated features will
screen on video. On special occasions we can do major
film screenings on a large
screen when there are more visitors. These would be on film and projected. These
would be themed screenings (the films of a given cartoon character for example)
with live commentary between the films about the films.
ENTERTAINERS: On days when there will be many
schoolchildren or families, entertainers can give an added experience. In the
past, these have included: people dressed in character costumes, facepainters, a
small orchestra playing cartoon songs with a singer, interpretive dance and
ballet of known stories, and even the famous set of a children's television
program. A photographer can take pictures of visitors with costumed characters.
POSTER FOREST: We have many original cartoon movie
posters and one interesting way we have found to display them is grouped
together in a kind of "Poster Forest". Visitors can wander through this forest
in two different ways. Sometimes this is at ground level, and sometimes, for
space limitations, we have had them suspended, in the sir above peoples' heads.
SOUND EFFECTS: Exaggerated and funny sound effects
add much to the comedy of cartoons. Visitors can put on headphones and enjoy a
variety of funny sound effects. A simple, but very popular activity.
COMPUTER ANIMATION: We shall invite various computer
animation hardware and software corporations to have a presence, showing their
wares and services and setting up interactive displays our visitors will enjoy
doing. These would include the latest animation drawing, colouring tools and
games. They will do demonstrations And show how the animation was created via
displays and video monitors.
SPECIAL GUESTS: For added media and press coverage
halfway through the duration of the exhibition, we can invite legendary
animation pioneers from California we know. This can have a sponsor and we
recommend a press conference. Costs can be offset by having the invitee sign
books and the like in the museum shop. A special screening with them in
attendance can be held in the theatre screening area.
MUSEUM SHOP: We can supply the museum shop with
special animation items such as original artwork both expensive and inexpensive
and authentic posters. We never recommend ordinary cartoon items available at
the corner store, but items that are not commonly available to the public.
